Software Radio - History, Trends and Market Drivers

19th June 2012
Location: London, UK

As part of its International Software Radio Conference SMI Group will be running the Software Radio - History, Trends and Market Drivers Workshop.

What is this event about?

Software radio has been a highly publicized and visible technology for the past decade. However, the genesis of software radio began well before the raft of large, highly visible software radio initiative such as the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) programme. As with any new technology, the technology maturity, growth, adoption, business climate and market drivers of software radio have all been factors that have led to the current state. New factors such as more emphasis on commercial investment on the part of radio suppliers, less government funded development and new technologies such as cognitive radio, are shaping the direction of the software radio landscape.

This workshop will provide a forum for exploring the history, current state and future of software radio across a range of technology, market and organizational issues. Attendees are encouraged to actively participate in the discussion of the topics and share their perspective and experience with the group.

Who is leading this event?

Dr Vince Kovarik, Chief Technical Officer for Software Defined Radio (SDR), PrismTech
