OpenFusion JacORB ME is a high quality, feature rich ORB based on the Object Management Group's (OMG) CORBA specifications. It has a high performance Portable Object Adapter (POA) based architecture and supports many advanced features including Portable Interceptors. It also includes the OpenFusion Naming Service ME, an implementation of the OMG's Naming Service specification.
J2ME delivers the power and benefits of Java™ technology to consumer devices as well as a broad range of embedded devices. It includes flexible user interfaces, a robust security model, a broad range of built-in network protocols, and extensive support for networked and offline applications that can be downloaded dynamically. Applications based on J2ME specifications are written once for a wide range of devices, yet exploit each devices’ native capabilities
OpenFusion JacORB ME has been specially optimized for the J2ME Connected Device Configuration (CDC) Version 1.1 (both Foundation and Personal Profiles) and has been tested with the Sun reference implementations. CDC is targeted at devices that have a minimum of 2MB of memory available to be used by the Java™ VM and its class libraries. CDC devices typically have a 32-bit processor and a network connection, which may be intermittent or permanent, often directly to the internet or a TCP/IP-based intranet. Example CDC devices include high-end PDA's, smart phones, residential gateways and set-top boxes.
The launch of this product is a direct response to our customers' requests. In sectors such as telecommunications, defense and software-defined radio our customers are increasingly seeking to build and deploy embedded software on resource constrained devices.
To request an evaluation version of JacORB J2ME or for any further information about the product please contact PrismTech.
